Join our Cleantech Hackathon –  March 19th and 20th

We are looking for students or recent graduates with a background in sustainability, innovation and environmental sciences to support our scouting process for the latest cleantech innovations in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Cleantech Scandinavia works to bridge the gap between cleantech innovations and financing opportunities. One way we do that is through our startup competition, the Nordic Cleantech Open. We will soon launch our 11th Edition of the Nordic Cleantech Open and want to give you the opportunity to support us and learn from one of the most important steps of the process.

“Ok, sounds interesting. But what is Cleantech?”
In the past, when clean energy was merely a promise, the market saw as “Cleantech” technologies related to clean energy (solar, wind, hydro, etc). However, as the sector boomed, other technologies that emerged to solve climate impact were also included included under the same cleantech “umbrella”. You can also hear terms like Climatech, Sustaintech, Envirotech. These are all most likely the same thing.
At Cleantech Scandinavia we adopted a flexible approach about the term: we are looking for technologies that can reduce environmental impact directly or indirectly, and so are our members and partners.

And why the Nordics?
Simple: the Nordics are always in the forefront of innovations and exporting unicorns.
Not far behind are the Baltic neighbors, therefore we cover Baltic countries as well.

What is the Nordic Cleantech Open?
It is a startup competition. Every year we receive between 120 to140 applications from which we identify the 25 best and most innovative early-stage cleantech startups . The main objective of putting their innovations in the spotlight is to support and accelerate their development and growth. While applications to the competition are open to any cleantech startup, we go one step further and scout for startups that we believe should run in the competition. The scouted companies are invited to participate in the competition and are also added to our exclusive cleantech database which is used by our members network for investment and dealflow purposes.

What’s in it for you?
The scouting process is an excellent opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with the cleantech ecosystem. You will get a first-hand look at the latest innovations in the field and learn about the latest trends in that space. It is a rewarding process: last year we scouted over 400 startups!
We are happy to provide you with a participation certificate plus letter of recommendations as we learn more about working with you.
