The Winner of Nordic Cleantech Open 2017 Revealed!

Cleantech Scandinavia’s Nordic Cleantech Open announced this week the Top 3 winners of Nordic Cleantech Open 2016/17 at the award dinner of Cleantech Capital Day in Oslo. And the winner is, for the first time, from Norway.

The winner of Nordic Cleantech Open 2017 is EnergyNest. EnergyNest has developed a new Thermal Energy Storage solution with game-changing economics for the renewable energy industry as well as for energy-intense industrial applications.

Second prize winner is SoilScout, with a ground-breaking technology providing critical insight into data from deep below the surface, wirelessly, near real-time, and maintenance free for up to 20 years, with the potential to reduce irrigation water and energy use by up to 50%.

Third prize is awarded to ifoodbag. ifoodbag offers an innovative, disruptive and recyclable packaging solution made from a paper composite material that locks in cold and protect refrigerated and frozen food.

Alexander Lidgren, exceptional Nordic cleantech promoter joins the Cleantech Scandinavia Hall of Fame!

Alexander Bigge Lidgren, Managing Director at Cleantech Invest, was inducted into the Cleantech Scandinavia Hall of Fame at an award ceremony at the Cleantech Capital Day in Oslo. Alexander Bigge Lidgren is Partner and CEO of Cleantech Invest, a cleantech investor and accelerator listed in Sweden and Finland. Previously, he was managing the cleantech portfolio at the Swedish Energy Agency. He has an entrepreneurial background having co-founded Cleantech Scandinavia and Nordic Cleantech Open where he was also the managing director.

The official motivation is:“For his relentless work to promote and accelerate Nordic cleantech, for his inspiring capacity to explain the relation between sustainability and financial opportunities and for leading the way in opening up the opportunity for individual investors to invest in Nordic cleantech companies.”

At the ceremony, Alexander Bigge Lidgren received a glass sculpture from the famous glass artist, Christian Svensson.

Cleantech Scandinavia reveals the Top 25 most promising cleantech start-ups!

After our annual massive sweep of the Nordic innovation environment to find the most exciting and progressive start-ups around, we ended up with an impressive bunch of close to 100 companies. This year we also saw the highest percentage of first-time applicants since we started the competition and now, after our highly renowned jury have made their choices, we are excited to share this year’s Top 25 list.

As always, the selection of the Top 25 signals the next step of the journey that is the Nordic Cleantech Open. Part of the experience and the next step, is participation at the Nordic Camp, a further chance to meet the jury members and pitch for a chance to move on to the Top 10, in February.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our applicants for entering the competition, the level of quality of the applications this year have been extremely good and the jury had their work cut out for them.

Lots of new events added

There has been a lot of new events added to the Nordic Cleantech Open calendar.

We will have a special Nordic Cleantech Open info meeting in Linköping 7/10. David Frykerås that was in the top 10 last year with his company Againity will chair his experiences and it is also an opportunity to meet with representatives from Linköping Universitet Innovation and Cleantech Östergötland.

Meet us at Green Connect in Gothenburg 11/10 or in Uppsala 19/10. Besides discussing your Nordic Cleantech Open application these are great events if you want to meet angel investors.

If your company is targeting the real estate sector there will be excellent opportunities to pitch your case in front of a grand jury of real estate company representatives and representatives from Malmö Kommun 8/11.

Applications are open for the new, improved, sixth round of Nordic Cleantech Open

Everything is not fully in place yet but the things that are is more than enough to motivate any cleantech entrepenur that he/she should spend a few minutes writing a great application to the sixth round of Nordic Cleantech Open. You can win:
– Participation in The Nordic Camp, an all-inclusive weekend together with investors at a castle in
the south of Sweden
– A Pitch at the Nordic Cleantech Open Finals, which brings 250 investors, industry and cleantech companies together
– Pitch opportunities at the Nordic Cleantech Showcases, in Toronto, Boston, New York Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Shanghai and Hong Kong for the most suitable early entrants.

Denmark wins the Nordic Cleantech Open finals 2016

Cleantech Scandinavia Nordic Cleantech Open today announces the winners of Nordic Cleantech Open 2015/16 at the award dinner of Cleantech Capital Day in Malmö. Denmark wins the Nordic Cleantech Open for the second consecutive year, the second price goes to a Swedish company while Denmark also wins third prize.

First prize winner is Fresh.Land. The company digitize the food supply chain with an innovative B2B platform. With Fresh.Land, farmers and retailers can interact, all get better prices and the cost for searching and transaction is lowered. Only the middlemen lose out.
Second prize winner is TRINE. The combination of crowd investing with commodity solar PV components creates an innovative business model with massive potential. The company aims at providing the 1.3 billion people living in energy poverty with access to solar energy.

 

Third prize winner is SBT Aquatech. The company produce a real-time bacteria sensor that significantly improves quality control of drinking water. The sensor can detect bacteria and non-organic particles in real-time.

It is with great satisfaction we now release this year’s edition of the Top 25 Report!

The report gives you a full coverage of the essence that is the Nordic Cleantech Open in addition to providing you with all the essential information on the chosen Top 25 companies.

By reading the report you also get the latest on relevant statistics in regards to for instance participation and we always make sure to present you with a section covering how previous batches have performed since taking part in the competition. The top 10 best Nordic cleantech startups 2016!

We are very happy to announce the top 10 list with the best startups in the cleantech sector in the Nordics. These companies have been carefully chosen as the ones with best potential for success by the very competent Nordic Cleantech Open Jury. Previous years top 25 companies have shown great track record and have included several of today brightest upcoming cleantech stars.
